Matt Reffitt, M.S., Master's Level Intern
Matt is a compassionate counseling graduate-level intern at Pellicer Counseling, currently finishing his master’s in counselor education at the University of South Carolina. With a focus on helping both individuals and couples, Matt integrates Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) to guide couples in enhancing communication, intimacy, and conflict resolution. He also draws on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), helping clients develop psychological flexibility and live in alignment with their values.
Matt is dedicated to creating a supportive, non-judgmental space where clients feel heard and empowered to make meaningful changes. He collaborates with clients to address challenges such as anxiety, depression, life transitions, and relationship concerns, tailoring his approach to each unique situation.
Before transitioning into therapy, Matt served 21 years in the U.S. Navy, gaining a deep understanding of resilience, leadership, and the complexities of relationships in high-pressure environments. His background in the military, combined with his advanced degrees in Meteorology and Geography, has shaped his ability to think critically, solve problems, and communicate effectively in therapy.
Outside of his work, Matt enjoys spending time with his son, listening to punk rock music, and cheering for the South Carolina Gamecocks and San Diego Padres, no matter the season. He is excited to bring his diverse experiences to the Pellicer Counseling team and support his clients on their journeys toward personal growth and healing.
