Patrick Pellicer is a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (LPC-S) and Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC) with over 11 years of experience providing mental health and substance use treatment services in Columbia, South Carolina. Prior to entering private practice in 2015, Patrick worked with the South Carolina Department of Mental Health at Morris Village and the South Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation Department, where he gained extensive experience supporting individuals facing mental health, addiction, and recovery-related challenges. He earned his Master’s Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling and Certification in Psychiatric Rehabilitation in 2010.
Patrick believes meaningful change happens both inside and outside of the therapy room. His approach to counseling is collaborative, practical, and action-oriented, encouraging clients to actively engage in the therapeutic process by applying new skills and strategies between sessions. He views even the smallest positive changes as opportunities for growth and believes that consistent progress over time can create lasting momentum toward a healthier, more fulfilling life. At the heart of his work is a deep belief in therapy’s ability to foster healing and recovery for anyone willing to engage in the process.
His clinical approach is integrative and tailored to the unique needs of each individual. Patrick primarily works from Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) frameworks and has completed formal certification in CPT. He also incorporates elements of Psychodynamic and Gestalt therapies when appropriate to help clients gain deeper insight into their experiences and patterns. Additionally, he has extensive knowledge of mutual-help and recovery communities and maintains strong professional relationships with detoxification and inpatient treatment providers to support clients seeking recovery from substance use disorders.
What most influences Patrick’s work as a therapist is his belief in the power of genuine human connection. Having experienced the benefits of therapy personally, he understands the importance of feeling seen, understood, and genuinely cared for by a therapist. This perspective continues to guide the way he shows up for his clients each day. While clinical knowledge and experience are important, Patrick believes that compassion, authenticity, and dedication are equally essential to the therapeutic process. His commitment is simple: to provide every client with his very best and to create a space where meaningful change can occur.
