Allison Amick, MRC, LPC, is a Licensed Professional Counselor with more than 18 years of experience in the mental health field. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a concentration in Women’s Studies from Winthrop University and later received her Master of Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine.
Throughout her career, Allison has worked with individuals facing a wide range of mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), panic disorders, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, eating disorders, trauma, and addiction. She began her clinical work in a psychosocial rehabilitation setting, supporting individuals with severe and persistent mental illness, and completed her graduate internship at The Renfrew Center of North Carolina, where she provided intensive outpatient group and individual therapy for individuals struggling with eating disorders.
Allison has specialized training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and integrative treatment approaches for eating disorders, including Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder, and Other Specified Feeding and Eating Disorders (OSFED). She also spent four years as a researcher with the University of South Carolina’s Department of Neuropsychiatry, contributing to studies focused on schizophrenia and addiction.
Her approach to counseling is holistic, collaborative, and individualized. Allison believes that every person’s journey is unique and works closely with clients to create a therapeutic experience that honors their specific needs, goals, and strengths.
Allison enjoys helping clients find their voice, heal from painful experiences, let go of patterns that no longer serve them, and reconnect with their personal power. She has extensive experience working with trauma recovery, abuse recovery, eating disorders, couples counseling, OCD, anxiety, and depression.
Outside of her professional work, Allison enjoys spending time with her family, reading, listening to podcasts, practicing meditation, exploring the outdoors, and traveling.
